U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement responded sharply to Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear following his recent remarks on “The View.”

During his appearance Monday, Beshear said “every ICE agent should be withdrawn from every city and every community that they’re in.” His comments followed an increased federal immigration presence nationwide, including in Minneapolis, where two people were fatally shot while ICE led operations. Protests erupted across the country after the deaths of demonstrators Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Pretti was shot and killed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents on Jan. 24 in Minneapolis. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Pretti committed an “act of domestic terrorism” while protesting the agency’s presence.

“This organization has to be reformed from the top down. Secretary Noem needs to be fired, and every agent needs to be retrained,” Beshear added on “The View.”

On Tuesday, ICE posted a looping clip of Beshear’s remarks on X, pairing it with profiles of immigrants arrested in Kentucky who were not legally authorized to remain in the country. The agency captioned the post, “we’ll continue to ‘withdraw’ criminal aliens from Kentucky regardless of your rhetoric, Governor.”

Beshear, who is widely viewed as a potential Democratic presidential contender in 2028, previously described Noem’s statements as irresponsible and deeply troubling. According to Politico, Noem later walked back her initial claim, saying she relied on early reports from agents on the ground in Minneapolis.

“We were being relayed information from on the ground from CBP agents and officers that were there,” Noem said, according to Politico. “We were using the best information we had at the time.”

Beshear also appeared on “The Daily Show” Tuesday, where he discussed his working relationships with fellow governors.
