LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Gov. Andy Beshear announced that six additional deaths in Kentucky have been connected to January’s winter storm, bringing the statewide total to 22.

Those who died include a 79-year-old woman from Floyd County, a 77-year-old man from Grayson County, a 59-year-old man from Hardin County, a 92-year-old man from Hart County, a 68-year-old man from Leslie County, and a 69-year-old woman from Madison County.

One of the deaths had previously been reported as a 55-year-old man from Jefferson County. Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg later identified him as Richard Marshall.

Beshear also said a second unhoused person died in Jefferson County during the cold weather this week, but that death is not being counted among the winter storm-related fatalities.

The January storm brought several inches of snow and ice across Kentucky, followed by bitterly cold temperatures that have continued to linger.

The Team Kentucky Storm Relief Fund is now providing $10,000 to families of victims to help cover funeral expenses.
