Eight employees at a Paris, Kentucky, manufacturing company are celebrating after their Powerball office pool landed a $200,000 prize.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Eight coworkers from a Paris, Kentucky, manufacturing facility are celebrating a major lottery win after their Powerball office pool claimed a $200,000 prize.
The group, which works at Avantor Performance Materials, won by matching four numbers plus the Powerball in the Saturday, Jan. 17, drawing.
Because they added the Power Play option, their original $50,000 prize was multiplied to $200,000 when the drawing’s multiplier was applied.
The coworkers recently made a trip together to Kentucky Lottery headquarters to claim their winnings, arriving with smiles, disbelief, and the winning ticket in hand.
“Total shock,” one winner said.
“I thought I was going to have a heart attack,” another added.
“I cried and I mean crying ugly,” a third joked.
Tim, who organized the office pool, said he always stays up to check the numbers after each Powerball drawing.
On the night of the win, he said he checked the numbers twice before calling his wife, Karen, to take a look.
“I looked and then I looked closer,” Tim said. “Now my hands are shaking so I take my tablet and the ticket to my wife Karen and ask her to read off the numbers to me.”
Karen initially thought he “was lying” and asked to see the ticket herself. The group had matched four numbers plus the Powerball.
“She got big eyes and said we had won $50,000,” Tim said. “I told her we had Power Play on the ticket, so we won $200,000.”
After taxes, each member of the office pool will take home more than $18,000.
The coworkers have been playing together for about four years and said they plan to use their winnings to help pay bills.
Estepp’s Friendly Shell in Paris will receive a $2,000 retailer bonus for selling the winning ticket.
According to the Kentucky Lottery, the Paris manufacturing team now joins a growing list of office pool winners across the state in recent years.
The “Jones 30” from R.A. Jones Middle School in Florence won a $1 million Powerball prize in a January 2024 drawing.
Seventeen employees from the Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown won a $50,000 Powerball prize in March 2025.
Workers from TG Kentucky in Lebanon secured a $50,000 Powerball prize in December 2025.
The jackpot for the Wednesday, Feb. 4, drawing stands at $80 million.
