HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — A Kentucky lawmaker is taking steps to address rising utility costs and concerns related to data centers.

According to a release, Rep. Adam Moore of Lexington filed the Kentucky Ratepayer Protection Act on Tuesday. The bill’s sponsors say it is designed to establish stronger safeguards to ensure large industrial developments do not pass hidden costs from data centers onto everyday ratepayers.

“Good regulations don’t have to be a roadblock; they can be a roadmap to responsible growth,” Moore said.

Moore said the legislation aims to protect ratepayers while also providing utilities with a responsible and stable path to compete for new investment.
