LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Firefighters rescued a horse after it fell through a frozen pond in southern Indiana.

At about 3:30 p.m., the Monroe Township Fire Department responded to the 7700 block of Henryville-Otisco Road after receiving a report of a horse that had fallen through the ice on a frozen pond.

When crews arrived, they found the horse stuck shoulder-deep in the ice and unable to free itself.

Monroe Township firefighters requested assistance from the Charlestown Fire Department. After arriving on scene, two firefighters wearing ice-rescue suits broke through the ice and helped guide the horse out of the water.

The horse was cold but not injured and was safely returned to its owners.
