LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Frankfort, Kentucky man saw a dream turn into reality after winning $2 million in a Mega Millions drawing.
In a news release, the Kentucky Lottery said the man, who chose to remain anonymous, told officials he dreamed about winning the lottery. That dream came true when his numbers matched the Dec. 26, 2025 Mega Millions drawing.
“I wasn’t expecting it,” he said. “I dreamed that I would win. It was a shock to me, although I was looking forward to winning one of these days.”
The man said he selected his numbers using meaningful dates, including relatives’ birthdays.
The winning numbers were 9, 19, 31, 63, and 64, with a Mega Ball of 7.
He returned to the Racetrac at 101 Bizzack Boulevard in Frankfort to check his tickets. After scanning one ticket that won $50, he scanned his Mega Millions ticket and initially thought he had won $1 million. Because the ticket included a built-in multiplier, the prize doubled.
“Then, I scanned the next one, and it said $2 million,” the man said. “It took me a second to digest it. I left without checking the rest of the tickets.”
He missed the estimated jackpot of $125 million by just one number.
After taxes, the man took home $1,450,000. He told lottery officials he plans to invest the money and travel.
The Racetrac location in Frankfort will receive $20,000 for selling the winning ticket.
The current Mega Millions jackpot stands at $303 million, with the next drawing set for Friday, Jan. 30, at 11 p.m.
