A Kentucky police department is gaining widespread attention for a series of snarky snowstorm tweets, with Louisville Metro Police drawing major engagement on X.

Louisville, Kentucky, saw heavy snowfall over the weekend, and while officers remained active in the community, the department’s social media presence was just as busy.

Over a 24-hour period during the storm, LMPD posted around 100 tweets, many packed with sharp humor and playful commentary.

A large portion of the posts poked fun at drivers.

“Special shout to this 100lb Chevy Spark that’s out here DoorDashing. SMH.”

The department also turned the spotlight on its own officers.

“Who wants to see one of our finest completely wipe out at #JoeCreasonPark ?”

Alongside the humor, LMPD shared several updates on road conditions and snow routes. The account also posted videos showing officers assisting stranded drivers and enjoying some lighthearted moments in the snow.

Some of the tweets collected thousands of likes and reached millions of views.

Sister station WLKY reported that Mayor Craig Greenberg was asked about the snarky posts during his Monday news conference, where he appeared to support the department’s approach.

“They take their jobs incredibly seriously. And so nobody should be confused with the clearly and obviously humorous tone of some comments that they’ve been making online, with the serious nature of their work and the seriousness which every one of our LMPD officers takes,” Greenberg said.

Whether the department’s social media presence will continue in what LMPD called an “unhinged” style remains unclear. However, based on more than 26,000 votes in an X poll, it appears that many followers would welcome it.
