Snow and ice have taken a toll on the region Sunday morning, causing widespread power outages.
As of 10:30 a.m., Kentucky Power reported over 2,600 customers without electricity, an increase of more than 2,000 from earlier in the day. Perry County had the most outages with 852 customers affected, followed by Lawrence County with 573 and Pike County with 531.
Appalachian Power reported more than 15,000 customers without power, including over 8,000 in West Virginia and nearly 7,000 in Virginia.
Licking Valley RECC reported 779 customers without power at 10:30 a.m., mostly in Breathitt County (525) and Morgan County (244).
Big Sandy RECC had 61 customers without power, down from more than 400 earlier in the day.
