LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Federal authorities announced multiple arrests tied to a large drug trafficking ring operating between Louisville and Detroit.
Investigators raided 15 locations last weekend — 10 in Louisville and five in Detroit — following a years-long investigation into organizations accused of distributing drugs across state lines. Nine people were arrested and charged with federal conspiracy offenses that carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison.
Six defendants are charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, 40 grams or more of fentanyl and 500 grams or more of cocaine. They are:
-
Reginald Forsythe, 46, Louisville
-
Damon Lewis, 50, Louisville
-
Timothy McAtee, 46, Louisville
-
James Henderson, 70, Louisville
-
Crystal Adams, 54, Louisville
-
Aiyisha Daniels, 43, Detroit
Three others face charges of conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine:
-
Isaiah Washington, 43, Louisville
-
Chelsea Brown, 42, Louisville
-
James Leffler, 38, Louisville
U.S. Attorney Kyle Bumgarner said investigators believe Forsythe led the operation, bringing drugs into Louisville and distributing them throughout the metro area and surrounding counties.
Authorities seized more than 70 pounds of methamphetamine, over one kilogram of fentanyl, more than $350,000 in cash and at least a dozen firearms, five of which were believed to be stolen.
Officials said the bust will help reduce violent crime and make the city safer. The joint operation involved local police, the ATF, DEA, FBI and federal prosecutors from Kentucky’s Western District.
