3 apprehended after police say they tried to steal $240,000 diamond chain at Doral nightclub

Three men have been apprehended after Doral police said they attacked a man inside a nightclub and attempted to steal a diamond chain worth over $240,000.

Sadien Alexis Menacove, 34, Manuel Antonio Barrios, 25, and Yoan E. Guzman Bango, 33, have been charged in connection with the June 28 incident at Pink Pony, a nightclub on the 7900 block of Northwest 33rd Street.

According to the arrest affidavit, the victim had stayed behind to pay his tab after his friends had left the club when Menacove, also known as “Sadien,” allegedly approached him and invited him into the men’s restroom, telling him he “only wanted to speak with him” and that the conversation was “for no other purpose.”

When the victim entered the restroom, Menacove allegedly shoved him into a stall with three to four other males waiting.

Investigators claimed the group continuously punched and kicked the victim, knocking him to the ground before continuing the attack.

During the assault, authorities said the victim heard one of the suspects cry, “La cadena,” or “the chain,” as the group reportedly attempted to remove the 10-karat, 2,000-gram diamond chain from around his neck.

Fearing that it might be stolen, the victim said police he clutched onto the chain while curled into a defensive position while the suspects pulled on it.

According to investigators, security personnel raced inside the restroom and stopped the attack, escorting the victim out.

As he was leaving, Barrios and Guzman Bango allegedly grabbed the chain again and attempted to rip it from the victim’s neck before fleeing and calling police.

The chain wasn’t stolen.

According to police, the victim sustained bruises, cuts, and injuries to his face, shoulders, arms, and neck as a result of attempting to remove the chain.

Surveillance video from inside the club allegedly verified the victim’s account, showing Menacove escorting him to the restroom and the co-defendants pulling on the chain near the exit while security intervenes.

According to authorities, each of the three males is charged with attempted strong-arm robbery and violence.

A judge established probable cause and set bond at $2,500 for attempted strong-arm robbery and $1,000 for violence for each defendant.
