LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) — The fate of the Givaudan plant in Louisville’s Clifton neighborhood, site of a deadly 2024 explosion, is now set.

Demolition is scheduled to begin Monday on the Payne Street facility, the Clifton Community Council announced. Givaudan plans to have equipment and contractors on-site to carry out the work, which is expected to last about 40 days.

The explosion occurred on Nov. 12, 2024, killing two workers and injuring 11 others. Records indicate the blast was caused when a vent failed on a cooking vessel containing caramel coloring.
