LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly overdosing while her two children were in the car.
Taquita Robinson, 43, was found unconscious behind the wheel of a 2018 GMC Denali stopped in a turning lane on Buechel Bypass late Saturday afternoon, according to court documents. Officers and EMS said Robinson did not respond when they knocked on the window and yelled for her to open the door. One of her children was able to unlock the door so first responders could check on her.
The vehicle was reportedly in “drive” with Robinson passed out and her foot still on the brake. EMS placed the car in park and shut off the engine. Robinson was revived after receiving three doses of Narcan.
While treating her, first responders discovered a small baggie of a “powdery substance” believed to be heroin inside a cigarette pack in Robinson’s hoodie pocket. When questioned, Robinson said she “smokes weed and that’s it,” and admitted to having “2 shots of Jim Beam.”
Robinson now faces charges including DUI, wanton endangerment, and possession of a controlled substance. Her bond was set at $2,500 cash, and her next court appearance is scheduled for January 13.
