KENTUCKY STATE POLICE said troopers have stepped up patrols in Jefferson County to improve roadway safety and deter crime.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky State Police have increased patrol efforts across Jefferson County as part of a broader push to enhance public safety on Louisville roadways.

Troopers from KSP Post 4 and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement have been patrolling the Louisville Metro area, focusing on reducing dangerous driving behaviors and discouraging criminal activity.

So far in December, KSP and CVE officers have issued 117 speeding citations, 40 seat belt citations, and 21 citations for no insurance.

In total, troopers issued more than 356 citations, made 23 arrests, and conducted four DUI arrests. Officers also cited five drivers for reckless driving, charged 13 people with operating on a suspended license, and executed 11 warrants.

KSP has expanded patrols in Louisville Metro areas experiencing an increase in vehicle thefts. Troopers have also assisted with crashes across the city by securing scenes, helping motorists, and restoring traffic flow.

“These enforcement efforts are about protecting the public and preventing tragedies before they happen,” said Post 4 Captain Jeremy Smith. “By expanding our patrols into areas experiencing increased criminal activity, including auto thefts, we are working to enhance public safety and deter further offenses.”

Enforcement teams have been positioned along Interstate 264, also known as the Watterson Expressway, Interstate 265 or the Gene Snyder Freeway, and Interstate 65.

KSP Post 4 provides law enforcement services to Breckinridge, Bullitt, Grayson, Hardin, Jefferson, Larue, Meade, and Nelson counties.
