The Kentucky Parole Board has decided that Ronald Exantus will stay in prison and revoked his mandatory reentry supervision after he admitted earlier this week to violating the conditions of his release.

Exantus was convicted in 2018 of two counts of second-degree assault and one count of fourth-degree assault for attacking members of the Tipton family after breaking into their home. He was previously found not guilty by reason of insanity for killing 6-year-old Logan Tipton.

According to the board, state law required that Exantus be released on mandatory reentry supervision on Oct. 1. Despite that requirement, the board had recommended he remain incarcerated up until the release date.

The board said Exantus had requested—and been approved—to serve his mandatory supervision in Florida under the Interstate Compact for Adult Offender Supervision. However, he was arrested in Marion County, Florida, on Oct. 12 for failing to register as a convicted felon, which was a condition of his supervision.

Exantus was returned to Kentucky on Oct. 29 and has been held at the Kentucky State Reformatory since then. The Kentucky Online Offender Lookup lists his current expected time to serve, with good time credit, as June 6, 2026.
