A Louisville woman has reached a plea deal after causing a fatal DUI crash that claimed the life of an eastern Kentucky man.

Sarah Spurling, 34, was charged with DUI, vehicular homicide, and felony wanton endangerment following the October 4, 2024, crash that killed 64-year-old Roger L. Arnett.

The crash happened in Magoffin County at the intersection of Highway 460 and Highway 114, when Spurling’s Toyota Avalon struck Arnett’s Chevrolet Malibu as he was turning into a driveway. The impact forced the Malibu into a GMC Sierra truck.

Arnett was taken to Paintsville Appalachian Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Under the plea agreement with Magoffin County prosecutors, Spurling pleaded guilty to all charges. She will serve 15 years for vehicular homicide, five years for first-degree wanton endangerment, and 30 days for DUI, with all sentences running concurrently.

She had faced a possible 25-year prison term before the deal.

Formal sentencing is set for October 16.
