Traffic on Interstate 65 north in Bullitt County has reopened after a serious crash temporarily shut down all lanes Thursday afternoon.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the crash occurred near the 117-mile marker, close to East Fourth Street in Shepherdsville.

Lt. Col. Mark Timperman, assistant chief of the Shepherdsville Police Department, said the incident began when a southbound semi-truck on I-65 struck a cable barrier, which then crossed into the northbound lanes. The barrier hit several vehicles, and the semi jackknifed and partially flipped over a truck.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, though the semi driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The crash also caused partial closures on the southbound side, blocking the left lane and shoulder of I-65.

TRIMARC reported that the collision happened around 2:30 p.m. and involved three vehicles in total. Traffic has since been cleared, and all lanes are now open.
