Update on Road Projects That Could Affect Traffic

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 has released updates on road projects that may impact traffic through October 3.

Interstate 165

  • Work to restore and preserve the I-165 bridges over the Green River in Butler County (mile point 32.6) continues. Northbound traffic has shifted to the southbound side, and the speed limit is reduced to 55 mph. The project is expected to last until fall 2026.

  • The Highway Safety Improvement Project at Interstate 165 Exit 7 (U.S. 231 Morgantown Road in Bowling Green) continues. The interchange is being retrofitted into a Double Crossover Diamond (DCD). The road remains open, but drivers will see changing traffic patterns. The speed limit on U.S. 231 is reduced to 35 mph, with one lane closed in each direction. Completion is expected later this fall.

Allen County

  • KY 1855 (mile point 0.0 to 6.7): Paving expected; lane closures possible.

Butler County

  • KY 70 (mile point 9 to 5.7): Paving complete; shoulder work this week. Expect lane closures.

Barren County

  • KY 839 (mile point 0.0 to 6.7): Paving planned; lane closures expected.

  • KY 2131 (mile point 0.0 to 2.2): Paving planned; lane closures expected.

  • U.S. 31-EX (mile point 0.0 to 1.4): Nighttime milling and paving continues. Expect lane closures.

Edmonson County

  • KY 1075 (from KY 185 to KY 187): Paving expected this week; lane closures expected.

  • KY 2336 (from KY 728 to Silas Hunt Road): Paving expected this week; lane closures expected.

Logan County

  • U.S. 68 (mile point 8 to 8.8): Paving complete; striping this week. Lane closures and delays expected.

  • U.S. 431 (mile point 11.5 to 12.5): Paving complete; striping this week. Lane closures and delays expected.

  • KY 722 (mile point 1.7 to 4.3): Base failure repairs; lane closures with flaggers.

  • KY 663 (mile point 4.3 to 7.0): Base failure repairs; lane closures with flaggers.

Metcalfe County

  • KY 533 (mile point 0.0 to 4.7): Paving expected to begin this week; lane closures expected.

Monroe County

  • KY 1366 (mile point 0.0 to 9.4): Milling and paving expected this week; lane closures with flaggers.

  • KY 100 (mile point 7.3 to 11.7): Paving expected to be completed this week; lane closures expected.

Simpson County

  • KY 1008 (mile point 2.2): New turn lane open; finishing work remains. Lane closures possible.

Todd County

  • KY 507 (mile point 1.9 to 8.2): Paving expected this week; lane closures with flaggers.

Warren County

  • KY 234: Safety and mobility improvements at KY 234 Johnny Webb Boulevard and KY 880 Lovers Lane continue. Lane closures mostly between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Completion expected by late November.

  • U.S. 31-W (mile points 20.9 to 22.5): Widening project continues. Traffic is two-way on the new section, with one lane in each direction. Crews will shift work to the other side.

  • KY 185: Two improvement projects underway. A new road is being built east of the current KY 185. Another section between KY 1320 and Jack Simmons Road will include drainage and ditching improvements.

  • U.S. 68 at KY 242: A Highway Safety Improvement Project continues in the Browning Community. The RCUT intersection is in its final phase, with striping and signage underway. More details at transportation.ky.gov/saferoadsolutions/Pages/RCUT.aspx.

  • KY 2265 Glenn Lilly Road (mile points 0.0 to 5.4): Drainage, shoulder, and resurfacing work continues. Lane closures expected between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
