Man accused of raping woman on Pittsburgh’s South Side arrested in New York

A man accused of raping an unconscious woman on Pittsburgh’s South Side was arrested in New York City on Thursday, 11 Investigates first reported.

According to public safety officials, Pittsburgh Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit and Special Victims Unit detectives, assisted by the NYPD Staten Island Warrant Squad, apprehended Larry Pappy Johnson on Staten Island and arrested him without incident.

Pittsburgh police investigators have been looking for Johnson when he allegedly carried an unconscious lady into a parking lot off South 14th Street. According to investigators, security footage shows Johnson raping the woman, stealing her handbag, and leaving her naked.

The woman informed authorities that she had a drink before waking up in the hospital with little recollection of the time in between.

Johnson appears to have posted on social media multiple times in recent days. In one of them, he sings for the camera. Another shows him dancing in front of a mirror.

Channel 11 investigated Johnson’s criminal history and discovered that he was charged with attempted homicide in 2019 following a stabbing on the South Side.

Johnson is currently facing charges of rape, sexual assault, robbery, false imprisonment, indecent assault, indecent exposure, and harassment.
