A Maryland Lottery player won $1 million after purchasing a winning Powerball ticket at a Royal Farms for Wednesday night’s drawing.
The $1 million ticket matched the first five numbers drawn — 30, 36, 40, 42, and 57 — but not the Powerball number, 2. According to FOX45, the winning ticket was sold at the Royal Farms on 1558 Annapolis Road in Odenton.
No ticket matched all six numbers to win the jackpot, allowing the top reward to rise to an estimated $707 million, with a cash option of around $309.7 million, for the next drawing on Saturday, August 1. Wednesday’s drawing was the 38th straight drawing without a jackpot winner. The last jackpot was won on May 2, when winning tickets in Florida and Texas shared a $20 million prize.
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play and are available in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the United States Virgin Islands. The chances of winning the jackpot are about 1 in 292.2 million, while the odds of winning any reward are about 1 in 24.9.
