A Worcester man was sentenced in federal court in Worcester for drug offenses, including methamphetamine, and equipment used to manufacture illegal tablets.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Justice, U.S. District Court Judge Margaret Guzman sentenced Tong Tran, 35, to 138 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. Tran pled guilty in March 2026 to possession with intent to distribute controlled narcotics after being accused in April 2025.

Tran was detected as delivering a box at a Worcester Post Office on or around September 19, 2024. A search of the shipment yielded around 2.4 kilograms of orange tablets containing methamphetamine, hidden in the packaging of a children’s toy. Tran left a partial fingerprint on the wrapping materials inside the box. Tran was also spotted transporting two other bundles containing methamphetamine pills.

During a search of Tran’s home on April 14, 2025, a pill press, binding agent, and other pill manufacturing equipment, including pill dyes, were discovered. The search also yielded 3.3 kilograms of methamphetamine and about $8,000 in cash.
