A man was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of first-degree murder in a Lakeland shooting in 2024.
Around 10 a.m. on September 10, 2024, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire near Fleming Avenue.
Alfredo Alfaro-Astello, 32, was discovered dead in the front yard of a home, with several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
A witness told authorities that they saw Clinton Robinson Jr. walk away from the home’s fence just before hearing the gunshots.
Deputies questioned Robinson about his connection with his neighbor, Alfaro-Astello, but he said the two had no ongoing conflicts. He also stated that he arrived home at 8:30 a.m. and denied leaving at any time thereafter.
According to the State Attorney’s Office for the 10th Judicial Circuit, a Polk County jury found Robinson guilty of first-degree murder, presenting false information to a law enforcement official, and tampering with evidence.
On Monday, he was condemned to life imprisonment.
