Two people are facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Kinston when officers allegedly discovered cocaine inside a vehicle.
According to Kinston police, officers stopped an automobile on West Bright Street at 9:30 p.m. Saturday for a traffic violation.
According to police, authorities removed everyone from the vehicle during the stop after discovering the driver was carrying a concealed gun in his waistband.
The driver, 28-year-old Grant Lee, had a concealed weapon permit, but police say he did not alert officials about the firearm as required by North Carolina law.
According to authorities, K9 Kilo conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle and warned officers to the suspected presence of drugs.
Officers then searched the vehicle and allegedly discovered cocaine, according to police.
Lee and his companion, 38-year-old Jessica Davenport, were arrested and sent to the Lenoir County Jail.
Lee was charged with felony cocaine possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, violating a concealed weapon permit, driving with a revoked license, no insurance, and revoked registration.
Davenport was accused with possessing cocaine.
According to police, Lee is being jailed on a $10,000 secured bond. Davenport is being held without bond since she was previously released on bond for separate narcotics allegations in Halifax County.
