LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District Five will host public meetings to share details about the upcoming summer closure of Interstate 65 in downtown Louisville.
Officials say the sessions aim to help residents prepare for the planned two-month shutdown.
The first meeting will take place Tuesday, May 5, at DuPont Manual High School, located at 120 West Lee Street. The second is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, at the Spalding University College Center at 812 South Second Street. Both meetings will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m., with a presentation beginning at 6 p.m.
Each event will follow an open house format, giving attendees the chance to speak one-on-one with project team members.
According to KYTC, the meetings will cover the reasons for the closure, what to expect during construction, how to prepare, and recommended alternate routes.
Officials also noted that accommodations for individuals with disabilities or language needs can be arranged with advance notice.
I-65 is set to close between the Watterson Expressway (I-264) and Jefferson Street from June 1 through August 1. Traffic will be rerouted to I-264 on the west side of Louisville.
More details are available on the project website.
