LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened late Thursday night in Louisville’s Highview neighborhood.

Louisville Metro Police responded around 11 p.m. to reports of a person down near Vaughn Mill Road and Briscoe Lane.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been struck by a vehicle. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

The Jefferson County Coroner identified the victim Friday as 27-year-old Adam J. Troutman of Louisville.

Preliminary findings show Troutman was walking along the right shoulder of Vaughn Mill Road in a dark, unlit area, heading northbound, when a vehicle traveling in the same direction struck him from behind. The impact pushed him off the roadway and into a ditch.

Police said the driver did not stop to check on the victim or provide aid and fled the scene.

Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area at the time or has information about the vehicle to contact LMPD at 502-574-LMPD (5673) or submit a tip through the department’s online crime tip portal.
