Former school counselor charged, accused of inappropriate relationship with student

HOUSTON – Authorities are searching for a former counselor at a Goose Creek CISD high school who faces felony charges tied to allegations of a sexual relationship with a student.

Lorinda Bocardo, 43, worked as a counselor at Goose Creek Memorial High School.

KPRC 2’s Bryce Newberry reached out to Goose Creek CISD for a statement about Bocardo’s employment status.

The district confirmed that she no longer works for GCCISD and that her separation date was Jan. 5, 2026.

Authorities have charged her with an improper relationship with a student and indecency with a child. As of this writing, she is not in custody, according to court records and reporting information.

Court documents accuse Bocardo of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old male student. Records show she was 41 at the time of the alleged conduct.

KPRC 2 also contacted the Texas Education Agency regarding any possible state-level action involving Bocardo’s certification.

How Authorities Learned of the Incidents

Court records state that school officials first became aware of concerns on Dec. 12, 2025, after an assistant principal at Goose Creek Memorial High School reported unusual comments made by the student.

According to the report, the student asked another campus staff member, “What happens to a district employee if they sexually assault a student?”

Investigators later began reviewing the situation after the student’s mother contacted the school, which prompted an internal inquiry.

Court records state that the victim later described the situation to detectives as a “weird relationship with a lady.”

The Counselor’s First Alleged Interactions

The student told investigators that he first met Bocardo while he was in middle school. He described her as “very nice and cool,” adding that she would give him fidget toys and snacks while he completed schoolwork in her office.

He said she also made repeated inappropriate comments, calling him “handsome” and telling him she loved him. He described the situation as inappropriate and said he did not initiate it.

After finishing middle school and starting at Goose Creek Memorial in 2024, the student said he encountered Bocardo again on campus.

Court records allege she told him in the hallway that she had transferred to the school “to be with him.”

Documents said she later asked him if he was interested in dating an older person and if he’d be interested in dating her.

According to the student’s statement in court documents, sexual interactions with Bocardo started happening in her office at Goose Creek Memorial during the school day.

Their first physical contact reportedly involved Bocardo walking over to the victim and kissing him, before sitting back down at her desk and saying, “See, was that so hard?”

The student also said he spent significant time in her office doing schoolwork and speaking with her, and that interactions became more frequent over time.

He said she would kiss him aggressively and rub her body against his, even exposing herself to him. During one such alleged physical interaction, she reportedly said, “It’s wrong but it feels so good.”

The student also told officials that she spoke to him about “having sex in her car” and offered to pick him up if he ever wanted to do that with her.

Court records state that other students began questioning why the victim was spending so much time with a counselor who was not assigned to his grade.

He also said his mental health declined due to depression and stress stemming from the alleged abuse, and that his grades started to slip.

According to court records, the student later disclosed the situation to school staff and requested that he no longer have contact with Bocardo.

Investigators reportedly reviewed messages exchanged between the two outside of school hours.

Some of those communications, according to records, included emotionally suggestive language, with Bocardo allegedly sending “143″—commonly recognized as a numeric code for “I love you”—on two separate occasions.
