LBL Wildfire Contained at 84 Acres, Investigated as Intentionally Set

Kentucky — A wildfire near Energy Lake in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area is now under investigation after officials determined it was likely intentionally caused.

According to LBL officials, crews were first alerted to the fire Friday afternoon when it had already grown to about 60 acres. Firefighters quickly responded to the area near Energy Lake, close to the Wildlife Nature Station, as the blaze expanded to roughly 84 acres.

The fire, now known as the Energy Lake Fire, was fully contained by 12 p.m. Saturday.

Officials said a preliminary investigation indicates the wildfire was purposely set. Crews continue to monitor the area, and some smoldering may persist within the containment zone, meaning smoke could still be visible.

No injuries were reported.
