LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Police activity across southern Indiana on Thursday drew attention in several communities, including a motorcycle club in New Albany. Authorities have not released details about the investigation and confirmed that no arrests have been made.
Indiana State Police and a SWAT team were first seen Thursday morning at the Blues Motorcycle Club in the 1600 block of East Main Street in New Albany. Photos and video showed troopers in tactical gear preparing to enter the building around 10 a.m., attracting attention from nearby residents.
By the end of the day, crews had removed the club’s signage from both the front and side of the building, leaving no visible identification.
A neighbor, J. Pesh, said the club had not caused issues.
“They were very respectable, I got to say,” Pesh said.
Authorities carried out operations beyond Floyd County. Troopers were also spotted at several other locations across southern Indiana.
One of those locations included Drifters Bar in New Pekin, where a person identifying themselves as in charge of the business asked those present to leave.
In Harrison County, police were also seen at Hogs Tavern on Main Street in Lanesville. The front door remained locked, and no one responded to knocks.
A nearby business owner, who chose to remain anonymous, said the number of officers was unusual.
“It wasn’t just marked cars. I thought maybe it was our town cars — it wasn’t,” he said. “It was state troopers… unmarked cars, marked cars… there was a load of police out in the parking lot just standing there.”
Police confirmed the investigation involved multiple locations and search warrants, adding that there is no threat to the public.
Officials have not disclosed what investigators were searching for. Indiana State Police said they will release more information if any arrests are made.
