CINCINNATI – A 79-year-old man has died nearly 12 years after he was shot while sitting on his porch in Northside.
The shooting happened on Feb. 20, 2014, when officers responded to the 1400 block of Apjones Street following a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a man, later identified as Gregory Tramble, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Family members said Tramble had been sitting on his porch when two teens approached him, shot him in the abdomen, and stole his backpack.
“He’s just retired, an older man. And he just doesn’t bother anybody,” the victim’s daughter said.
The teens then ran behind the house. Housekeepers were inside cleaning at the time and called 911.
Paramedics transported Tramble to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Cincinnati police later shared an update stating that Tramble died from his injuries on Feb. 6.
At the time, authorities described the suspects as between 14 and 16 years old and wearing dark clothing. A neighbor told WLWT News 5 that Tramble was well-known in the neighborhood and often spent time on his porch.
The Cincinnati Police Department’s Homicide Unit continues to investigate the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 513-352-3542.
