LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Drivers in Louisville should plan for another overnight closure of Interstate 65 South on the Kennedy Bridge as construction continues.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced that I-65 South will shut down starting at 8 p.m. Friday, April 3, and reopen by 10 a.m. Saturday, April 4. The closure will occur just past Exit 1 in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

Motorists are advised to take Interstate 265 West to Interstate 64 East to reconnect with I-65 South.

Officials said the closure is necessary to prevent bridge movement while crews complete the final phase of an expansion joint replacement project.

Transportation officials added that up to three additional overnight closures may be scheduled as the work moves forward.
