High-speed EV charging station opens in Shepherdsville

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Electric vehicle drivers in Shepherdsville now have a closer option to recharge thanks to a new high-speed charging station.

The station is located at the Paroquet Springs Conference Center and is the first Level 3 fast charger positioned between Louisville and Elizabethtown.

“I find myself, after driving an electric car so long, it seems inconvenient to me to drive a gas car,” said EV owner David Strange. “To pull up to the pump and figure out which pump to use and which level of gas and whatever to do. I can just plug in at home, plug in here.”

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, Level 3 chargers can provide 100 to 200-plus miles of range in about 30 minutes.

By comparison, Level 1 chargers—commonly used at home—offer roughly five miles of range per hour of charging.
