Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run near Churchill Downs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man died following a hit-and-run Friday night in Louisville.

Louisville Metro Police responded around 8:37 p.m. to a report of a pedestrian struck near Southern Parkway and West Evelyn Avenue, close to Churchill Downs.

Officers found an adult man unconscious in the roadway. Investigators said he was walking in the area when a vehicle hit him and fled before officers arrived.

Police and EMS performed life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead.

LMPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating the case.
