LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Drivers have likely noticed the orange construction barrels, and now they should prepare for slower traffic along Interstate 71 near downtown Louisville.

Beginning Monday, March 2, crews will implement daily alternating closures on Zorn Avenue near I-71 to allow for bridge pier construction. Officials expect this phase of work to continue through mid-April.

Edith Road will also close between River Road and Mellwood Avenue through Friday, March 20.

In addition, nightly lane closures will take place on I-71 between the Interstate 65/71 split near Frankfort Avenue and Zorn Avenue starting March 2.

The closures are part of a widening project that will expand I-71 from four lanes to six. The $50 million project is expected to be completed by fall 2027.
