MONTICELLO, Ky. (LEX18) — A 26-year-old man from Monticello died Saturday afternoon after a crash on KY-90 near Hall Road, according to Kentucky State Police.

KSP reports the collision occurred around 1:36 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, when Christian Vanover, 26, was riding a 2025 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound. Witnesses say Vanover was moving through traffic when he hit the rear of a 2008 Honda Odyssey driven by 57-year-old Cynthia Smith of Somerset.

Following the impact, state police say Vanover’s motorcycle left the roadway and traveled down an embankment. Troopers confirm he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Vanover was first transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and later transferred to the University of Kentucky Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Smith and a passenger inside her vehicle were not hurt.

Kentucky State Police Post 11 continues to investigate the crash.
