FRANKFORT, Ky. (WOWK) — Beginning March 1, fishing and hunting licenses for the 2026–2027 season will be available across Kentucky.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources announced that fees will remain unchanged from the current license year, following a modest pricing adjustment during the 2025–2026 season.

Residents planning to participate in outdoor activities must secure the proper licenses and permits through the department’s License Sales portal or the My Profile app, both accessible via the agency’s website at fw.ky.gov.

A standard license covers basic hunting or fishing for many species. However, additional state permits are required for certain activities, including trout fishing and hunting migratory birds, deer, wild turkey or black bear.

The department also offers sportsmen-style licenses that bundle multiple species permits along with basic hunting and fishing privileges.

New outdoor enthusiasts may qualify for a resident first-time license. Anyone who has not purchased a Kentucky hunting or fishing license since 1996 is eligible to obtain one for $37.

The 2026–2027 fishing and hunting season runs through the end of February 2027.
