KENTUCKY — Authorities are issuing a serious public safety alert after seizing fentanyl in multiple colors, including pink and purple, during several drug-related arrests this week.

Officials said the brightly colored fentanyl is especially dangerous because it can be mistaken for candy, posing a significant risk to children. Parents and guardians are urged to speak with their children about the dangers of drugs and to warn them not to touch or handle any unknown or unpackaged substances.

The warning follows the Feb. 1 arrest of Teddy Smith, who was charged with trafficking cocaine and heroin. During a search of his vehicle, deputies found a large quantity of suspected fentanyl, authorities said.

Several additional arrests were also made this week in connection with drug possession. Those taken into custody included Dakota Furgeson, Donny Jones, and Amanda Gooden, officials confirmed.

Authorities stressed that fentanyl is extremely powerful and can be deadly even in very small amounts. They encourage anyone who encounters suspicious substances to report them to law enforcement rather than trying to handle them.
