County-by-County Winter Storm Updates in Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) — First responders, emergency management, and local officials are working to address the aftermath of the recent Winter Storm across the region.

Governor Andy Beshear confirmed one weather-related death in Kentucky. 72-year-old Betty Veach of Williamsburg passed away at Baptist Health Corbin on Sunday. Two other deaths are under investigation as possibly storm-related.

Kentucky State Police reported receiving 4,863 calls since noon on Jan. 24, completing 327 welfare checks and 413 motorist assists.

School and Business Closings

As of 7 p.m. Monday, Farmers RECC reported 2,200 members without power. Below is the county-by-county breakdown:

Barren County (9 p.m. Monday):

  • 2,449 without power, mainly Farmers RECC customers.

  • Emergency Management closed the EOC; operating on Mobile Command.

  • Multiple reports of trees down on power lines and roads. County road crews are plowing, salting, and clearing trees with help from the National Guard and KY Division of Forestry.

  • Ice is thick and limiting plowing; crews are spreading salt to melt ice.

Allen County (9 p.m. Monday):

  • 5,116 power outages with Tri-County EMC; crews working 16-hour shifts.

  • Judge Executive Dennis Harper said full restoration may take up to a week.

  • VH Dream Center open 24/7 for warmth and hot meals (201 S. Court St., Scottsville; 270-622-2667).

Monroe County (9 p.m. Monday):

  • 4,946 outages with Tri-County EMC and 13 with Farmers RECC.

  • Boil water advisory in effect for 3,695 customers.

Warren County (9 p.m. Monday):

  • Residents encouraged to stay home if possible.

  • County government offices, parks, and programs closed.

  • Public schools closed Monday; NTI days Tuesday and Wednesday.

  • Warren RECC reports 8 without power.

  • Warming centers: Capitol (8 a.m.–4 p.m.), Salvation Army (8 a.m.–4 p.m.), First Christian Church (8 a.m.–4 p.m.)

  • City of Bowling Green offices closed Tuesday. Call BGPD non-emergency: 270-393-4000.

Ohio County (9 p.m. Monday):

  • Hartford crews working on water main break on Clay Street; boil water advisory in effect.

  • Sheriff reports a “bad wreck” in Rockport.

  • Warming stations at Ohio County Fairgrounds.

Butler County (9 p.m. Monday):

  • No current power outages.

  • Warming center open at Eva Hawes Building, Morgantown.

  • Courthouse operating Jan. 27 with one-hour delay.

Cumberland County (9 p.m. Monday):

  • 1,447 without power with Tri-County EMC.

  • First responders to receive free breakfast Jan. 27 at Bait Shop.

  • Center Point Church Shelter open; call 248-217-4511 or 270-991-8859 for assistance.

  • Contractors and volunteers removing trees from roadways.

  • USDA commodity food distribution: Feb. 6 at 8 a.m.; crew on-site Jan. 27.

  • State of the county address rescheduled for Feb. 12 at 4:15 p.m.

Metcalfe County (9 p.m. Monday):

  • 1,129 without power according to Tri-County EMC.

  • Edmonton-Metcalfe 911 responded to 78 weather-related calls: 30 downed trees, 11 downed powerlines, 6 welfare checks, 1 house fire.

  • Edmonton water, sewer, gas, and City Hall closed Monday.

Simpson County (9 p.m. Monday):

  • 1 customer without power.

  • Warming center closed; residents should contact Simpson County Emergency Management if they need a warm place.
