LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) — A Jefferson County Grand Jury has indicted Dontez Deshawn Edwards, 36, of Louisville, on charges connected to a fatal September shooting in the Russell neighborhood.

Edwards faces one count each of murder, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and unlawful transaction with a minor.

The shooting occurred around 7:15 p.m. on Sept. 28, 2025, in the 2100 block of West Market Street. Police said the victim, an adult man, died before receiving medical assistance.

At the time of the indictment, Edwards was already in custody at Louisville Metro Corrections on unrelated charges.
