A man has died from injuries sustained in a September crash on Interstate 65 near the county line, according to Louisville Metro Police.
LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis said officers responded around 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 19 to reports of a vehicle collision on I-65 northbound near mile marker 124. Preliminary findings indicate a passenger vehicle traveling in the third lane drifted across lanes for unknown reasons before striking a work truck parked on the right shoulder due to a tire blowout.
Ellis said the impact was severe. Emergency crews had to free the driver of the passenger vehicle, who was then taken to UofL Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead on Oct. 11.
The driver of the work truck, who had been standing in a grassy area beside the highway waiting for a tow truck, was not injured.
No other vehicles were involved. LMPD’s Traffic Unit continues to investigate the crash.
