LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville man and his step-son were injured Monday morning when a piece of metal came crashing through their car’s windshield in Jeffersontown.

The incident happened near Billtown Road. Shannon Sheehan said the metal pierced his windshield, injuring both him and his 18-year-old step-son.

Sheehan’s son was taken to the hospital to have glass fragments removed.

Photos of the car show shattered glass and a large hole in the windshield. Sheehan said he isn’t sure what the object was but believes it came flying through the air.

“Something came through the sky,” Sheehan recalled. “It happened so fast and it sounded like a bomb hit my car, and it was like glass and debris went flying everywhere.”

Jeffersontown police said the FAA ruled out the possibility that the metal came from an aircraft. Investigators have not yet determined the source but noted there is extensive construction in the area where the incident occurred.
