LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — Louisville Metro Police say they seized enough fentanyl to deliver a lethal dose to more than a third of Jefferson County’s population during a major drug bust Friday. Officers also recovered other illegal drugs and two guns.

According to police, around 6 p.m. on Sept. 26, detectives with the 2nd Division Impact Unit executed a search warrant in the 5000 block of Yew Lane.

“This operation removed a massive amount of poison from our community and significantly disrupted a dangerous drug network, improving the safety and quality of life for residents in the area,” LMPD officials wrote on social media Sunday.

During the search, officers seized:

  • One pound of fentanyl

  • 5.26 ounces of high-purity cocaine

  • Eight ounces of marijuana

  • Two guns

Police said the seized fentanyl alone could kill more than 225,000 people — about 36% of Jefferson County’s residents.

SWAT team members, K9 patrol units, and technical operations support staff assisted in the ongoing investigation. No arrests have been announced in connection with Friday’s search.
