A young woman sustained a serious injury after being robbed and assaulted off Connecticut Avenue NW near the University of the District of Columbia campus early Tuesday, according to authorities.
News4 footage captured a heavy police presence near the trail by UDC’s campus and Connecticut Avenue.
Police said they arrived shortly after 6 a.m., and the Secret Service was also spotted in the area. Officers blocked off part of the trail with police tape.
Neighbors expressed their concern and frustration after learning about the assault.
The victim is expected to recover from her injuries. Police have not yet released any details about a suspect or suspects.
