Man found dead in couple's bedroom after husband returns home early from work to find him with wife

A California father is accused of stabbing a man to death with a pocketknife after coming home from work early and finding him in bed with the father’s wife and their two young children, prosecutors say.

Ismael Pinedalopez, 34, is charged with murder in the killing of 28-year-old Nicholas Garcia. The attack happened Oct. 24 inside the family’s Anaheim home, in the 700 block of North Pine Street, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors allege he stabbed Garcia to death in front of his two children.

The DA’s office announced the charges in a press release Tuesday, ahead of Pinedalopez’s arraignment.

“[Pinedalopez] has been charged with murder for stabbing a romantic rival to death with a pocketknife after coming home from work early to find the man in his underwear in bed with the defendant’s wife along with his two young children,” the DA’s office said.

Prosecutors allege Pinedalopez came home early from work on Oct. 24 and found Garcia with his wife and the couple’s two children, ages 2 and 4. The children were not harmed.

Investigators have not said whether Pinedalopez knew the victim.

Police responded to the home and found Garcia in the bedroom the couple shares with their children. He had been stabbed multiple times, and prosecutors say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Violence is never the answer, and it is truly heartbreaking that these young children had to witness their father commit such a horrific act of brutality in their own home,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a statement Tuesday.

Pinedalopez faces one felony count of murder and one felony enhancement for personal use of a weapon. If convicted, he faces 26 years to life in prison, according to the DA’s office.
