A Miami man was arrested Monday after officials linked him to thousands of dollars stolen from an Upper Keys construction company using bogus checks.
Rico Jermaine Ivery, 20, was arrested on September 21, 2026 and placed into jail for grand theft, forgery, and counterfeiting.
The inquiry began in 2022, when the victimized firm contacted the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office to report that two phony checks had been cashed in its name. According to detectives, the fake drafts totaled over $6,000, with one prepared for $2,894 and the other for $3,278.
Throughout the investigation, detectives worked with two different banks and traced both transfers directly to Ivery’s personal bank accounts.
Following the financial examination, investigators obtained warrants for Ivery’s arrest, resulting in his incarceration on Monday.
