A homeless woman will face court next week after reportedly returning to her condemned home in Leesburg to clean up garbage.
According to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department, an officer responded to a suspicious person at a residence on North Truett Street at 12:30 p.m. on September 12. When the police arrived, he found Linda Wilkerson, 71, who was sweeping up debris in the front yard.
Despite the fact that the house had been condemned, she claimed to be clearing out her home. Dispatch said that she had already been trespassed from the premises on July 20. She was aware she had been trespassed, but it had been a long time, according to the report.
Wilkerson’s granddaughter called, concerned about her homelessness, and requested a well-being check. The police investigated her home on the same block, and everything seemed fine. According to the report, the granddaughter’s concerns about neglect prompted the submission of an online DCF report.
Wilkerson received a misdemeanor trespass ticket following a warning. The Ohio native is scheduled to appear in court on September 30.
