KANSAS CITY, Mo. — UPDATE, Sept. 12 – The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department has identified the man who died in Friday afternoon’s shooting.
The victim was 36-year-old Eric White. KCPD said the investigation is still ongoing.
ORIGINAL REPORT: A shooting Friday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri, left one person dead.
The shooting happened around 2:30 p.m. Friday near West 39th Street and Broadway Boulevard.
Officers were dispatched around 2:45 p.m. to a business parking lot on Broadway Boulevard, according to KCPD.
They found an unresponsive man suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers took him to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, but he later died, KCPD said.
People in the area told police they heard gunshots coming from the east before seeing the victim walk into the parking lot.
A preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred in the 200 block of West 39th Street, police said.
