More than a dozen fans of The Chainsmokers were hospitalized during one of the duo’s concerts in California.
Fourteen people attending the “Closer” hitmakers’ outdoor show in San Jose on Friday, Sept. 4, were transported to local hospitals during and after the concert, according to police and the San Jose Fire Department (SJFD).
Police told ABC 7 that at least 10 people were taken to the hospital in the final 30 minutes of the show.
Fire officials responded to the concert at San Jose’s Discovery Meadow at 8:22 p.m. local time after receiving “reports of multiple patients requiring medical attention” and quickly requested additional support, the SJFD said on X.
The patients were hospitalized for a range of medical concerns, including “suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related issues,” NBC Bay Area reported, citing police.
ABC 7 Eyewitness News also reported that “several people are recovering from alcohol or drug problems that took place” at the San Jose venue. Paramedics treated some attendees at Discovery Meadow and continued providing care as the concert came to an end, ABC 7 reported, citing authorities.
On X, the SJFD said the department “immediately requested an Ambulance Task Force, two additional advanced life support fire units, and a Battalion Chief to manage the incident and provide additional medical resources.”
Fire officials said 14 ambulances responded to the scene at Discovery Meadow. Footage shared by ABC 7 showed a lengthy line of ambulances and a fire truck outside the venue.
The scene was seemingly cleared within about two hours, with the SJFD stating on X that all fire department resources had returned to service at approximately 10:34 p.m.
The San Jose Police Department (SJPD) assisted with traffic control, the fire department said.
No arrests were reported, according to SFGate. The SJPD did not provide any additional details about the incident. PEOPLE has reached out to representatives for The Chainsmokers and the SJFD for comment.
The Chainsmokers’ concert began at 5 p.m., according to ABC 7. The electronic duo then took the stage at Wynn Las Vegas’ Encore Beach Club the following morning, Saturday, Sept. 5, according to various social media posts.
