A lucky New York lottery winner has just claimed an incredible $10 million prize. The astounding figure came from one of the New York Lottery’s scratch-off tickets, and it was notable for being the first top prize to be awarded to players.
The Player Secured an Eight-Figure Payout
According to the announcement, the winner was Daniel Russel of Rensselaer. Russel won an eight-figure sum on a 300X The Money ticket, resulting in a life-changing payoff.
Russel’s winning ticket was purchased at the Cumberland Farms petrol station on 499 North Greenbush Road. He later went to the lottery headquarters and declined the annuity option for the entire amount in favor of a one-time lump sum payment of $4,470,118.
For context, 300X The Money is a $30 game with a top reward of $10 million. At launch, the game provided four such rewards, as well as fifteen second-tier prizes at $150,000. As of this writing, three top awards had still to be claimed. The New York Lottery’s official website also claims that twelve second-tier rewards are still available.
To put it in perspective, the odds of winning the top prize of $10 million in the 300X The Money game are 1 in 4,458,862.50. In contrast, the odds of winning a second-tier prize of $150,000 are 1 in 1,189,030.00.
