Three teenagers and a 22-year-old from Rockford are facing charges following a shots-fired complaint last month.
Kyler Evans, 22, was charged with:
A 17-year-old teenager faces charges of mob action, possession of ammunition without a valid FOID (ineligible), aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm, and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Two more teenage boys, ages 15 and 17, have each been charged with mob activity.
According to investigators, this occurred around 2:30 p.m. On May 14, Rockford police were called to the 1900 block of Ohio Parkway after witnesses said that someone had shot at them after getting out of a nearby vehicle. Detectives suspect the shooting was related to a battery the day before.
On June 4 and 5, violent crime detectives searched homes in the 1400 block of Nelson Boulevard, the 2400 block of 25th Street, and the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue. Officers said they found narcotics, ammo, an auto sear (a mechanism that allows for completely automatic firing of a gun), and a short-barreled rifle during the searches.
Evans was arrested and sent to the Winnebago County Jail, while the other three minors were taken to the juvenile detention center.
Evans is due to appear in court for the first time on June 6.
