A McKeesport woman is facing charges after police say she stole $33,000 from a resident of the city’s assisted care facility, The Palms at O’Neil.
Aubreyanna DeCicco, 27, a caretaker, is suspected by police of exploiting a victim’s debit card to withdraw money from February to June.
She faces charges of theft by unlawful taking, financial exploitation of an elderly or care-dependent individual, and access device fraud.
According to court documents, the victim reported the crimes to police on June 9, stating that he had allowed DeCicco to use his debit card to purchase personal items from the store. He later discovered significant amounts missing from his account.
Police used bank surveillance footage to positively identify DeCicco.
According to the criminal complaint, officers discovered that $33,100 had been withdrawn from the ATM at 1612 Lincoln Way in White Oak.
Police say withdrawals occurred between February 12 and May 14.
DeCicco’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 10 before District Judge Joseph Pero.
