A Massachusetts woman was taken into custody following an investigation into an alleged $13,000 fraudulent return scheme.
According to authorities, on July 15th, officers from the Sandwich Authorities Department responded to Aubuchon Hardware after store management reported that an employee had been terminated for alleged fraudulent activities against the store.
During the enquiry, it was discovered that Heather Wood of Mashpee handled 35 fraudulent return transactions over a 36-day period while working at the shop. The enquiry determined that the transactions credited more than $13,000 to Wood’s credit cards.
Following the investigation, the Sandwich Police Department requested and was issued an arrest warrant charging Wood with Larceny by Single Scheme Over $1,200 and False Creation or Use of a Sales Receipt.
Sandwich Police detectives later found Wood working at a hardware store in Centerville, where she was arrested without incident.
